Description

Magic-wielding dragons await Earth’s survivors on the exoplanet Zomenos—if mankind doesn’t tear itself apart.

LAUNCHING JUNE 1ST, 2026

Human life is scattered across a few dozen space stations, desperate for a second chance at a permanent home. The colony on Zomenos waits beyond a wormhole, yet the ground crews laboring to restore Earth clamor to see their efforts rewarded. The rift between colonist and restorationist deepens. Colony physician Marilina Chamorro is thrust into the heart of the conflict, forced to choose between duty and purpose, friendship and love.

A coup pitches the space stations into rapid decline. Ties between station leaders splinter. The colonists depart for Zomenos under the shadow of new leadership. Dissent sparks between Marilina and the crew, leaving the group unprepared for a fresh confrontation with a powerful race of dragons when they arrive. The definitions of friend and foe are tested and rewritten. Loyalties fracture. New allegiances are born. The wrong choice could spell the extinction of Earth’s orphaned race.

The odyssey through the wormhole sets an irreversible collision of xenobots, space detectives, and dragons in the first volume of the ZOMENOS series.

ZOMENOS: The Orphan Race is for fans of The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey and The Broken Earth series by N.K. Jemisin.

ARC Review – Intriguing, smart, and open

This novel took me a while to get into and finish, but for this one this is good. I usually inhale books and pull through them like nothing. “The Orphan Race” made me sit with the plot, the characters and everything a little longer which I appreciate now that I am done.

I so love the world I got to discover little by little and once we made it to Zomenos, I was locked in. I love the worldbuilding with the two factions and how each character is differently involved and has lowkey connections to both. It made the entire world feel more real and engaged.

Usually I can’t stand books with more than three POVs but for this one it was necessary to get all inside thoughts as well so it wasn’t as distracting as I thought. Also, the writing changes subtely with each character which makes it so much easier. That’s to say, Jack is my favourite character and I am excited to see where his story will go.

The different parts of inclusiveness made me so happy and I feel like we need more of this in books. So thank you Jenny for writing not only queer people into this story but also hispanic people.

I am so excited to learn more of this world and what’s to come of this story.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
